So a lot of good things have been happening lately. Good weather, good barbeques with good people. I'm also helping some guys open up a sneaker/boutique store. I won't go into it because I'll jinx it. Here's a peak at a pair of Air Jordan IV's I'm working on.

My self portrait is still not quite finished. I think I could use a little more variety in shading on the left side of the jacket. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" illustration is "finished." The thing I least dislike about it is the couple in the bottom right having a blast.

Made some more progress. The scanner made the skin color a lot more pink than it really is. This one is taking me a lot longer than I thought it would. Damnit.

I love Strathmore natural drawing paper. It's definitely the best paper I've ever used. Catches graphite and ink very well. It's got that nice light tan tint to it and printing photos on it is the best thing I've discovered. It makes your black saturated, and your whites nice and warm. Almost like sepia minus the cheesy Photoshop filters.

By the way, that is a Foreign Family shirt I am wearing in the illustration. My boy Mr. 44 is putting out a lot of good work. Their spring line is serious. Go support the Fam.

Also, great Snoop Dogg interview on this Dutch talk show called the Jensen show. The whole interview is split up into 4 parts. Part 1 is here. All I gotta say is, he got a standing ovation.

I haven't been updating at all. Because I'm a slacker, and I'm pretty much out of material. But I will try my best to keep those of you who are faithful readers entertained from now on. I have been working on new faces though, so I don't recycle the same shit over and over again. Thank you come again.

Nothing Like A Dame 2007

Tonight was the 2007 performance of Nothing Like A Dame, "a one-night gathering of the first ladies of broadway and special guests benefiting the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative of the Actors' Fund of America," presented by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. Great organizations getting great exposure and support. And great comp seats for me as usual thanks to my superduper awesome job (right side of the stage, orchestra, tenth row), I could see every drop of saliva in the mist sprayed by the singers.
Sadly, I was too inexperiencecd to recognize most people in the show, with the exception of Lea Salonga, Ana Gasteyer, and Jennifer Holliday, who performed her Dreamgirls song to much applause. Her delivery was certainly very unique and emotional... evocative of what I'd imagine a crying bulldog would sound like. It's a compliment, actually. Her sound is unforgettable.

Post-show party at John's Pizzeria around the block. Ate a lot of free food to show my support. Daiji, I'm sure that you'd readily offer your own belly as sacrificial replacement for mine right now so that I wouldn't have to deal with the discomfort of falling asleep with a belly full of pizza and calamari. You're so selfless and romantic <3

Pizza Bagel

Last week, I had a $0.55 pizza bagel from the cafeteria at work. Definitely made my list of top 10 experiences at the company. That pizza bagel joined the ranks of meeting Mariska Hargitay, getting free art books, and seeing a gala performance of The Pirates of Penzance at NYCO.

I made my own pizza bagel today. In the following order: bagel + tomato sauce + garlic powder + italian seasoning + red pepper flakes + extra long mozzarella cheese stick + pepperoni that was in the freezer for a year. Into the toaster oven to bake (oops) and toast. Definitely yummy, but the bagel should have been crispier and the entire thing needed to be blotted before consumption.


Couldn't find any oregano... I hope Daiji didn't sell it to some 9th graders as weed again...

This is a project for class in progress. I have to make a mask showing my "deepest self." There's no deep meaning behind this. I love porn and spraypaint no matter how good or bad I feel, that's it.
